[Action Required] Breaking changes to Respondent API — live Sept 15We’re rolling out several breaking changes to the API and want to ensure you’re fully informed and prepared.

What’s changing?

  • The publicDescription field will be required to publish projects.
  • We’re enabling webhook retries. A 2xx status code will be expected within 3 seconds; if not, we’ll retry delivery up to 5 times at 10-minute intervals.
  • Screener questions will be limited to a maximum of 40 per project when adding single or multiple questions.

Why are we changing?

These updates are designed to:
  • Improve recruitment efficiency and the quality of participant experiences.
  • Ensure more reliable event delivery through webhook retries and reduce reliance on frequent polling or manual intervention.

Key dates

  • Aug 18, 2025 — these changes go live in our staging environment.
  • Sept 15, 2025 — these changes go live in our production environment.

Action required

  • Require your researchers to add a description to projects created on your platform prior to Sept 15, 2025.
  • If you have a webhook set up with us, ensure it responds with a 2xx response within 3 seconds prior to Sept 15, 2025.
  • Enforce a maximum screener question limit of 40 questions per project on your platform prior to Sept 15, 2025.
